Fabrics

How should I care for my Cottage Industrialist textiles?

Cold water, machine-wash on gentle cycle, phosphate free detergents. Tumble dry low or allow to air dry flat. Steam iron to remove wrinkles.

How are Cottage Industrialist textiles produced?

Cottage Industrialist textiles are digitally printed on-demand in the United States. On-demand printing eliminates the need for wasteful inventory; digital printing also wastes very little water and uses non-toxic, water-based inks and dyes. I make every effort to make environmentally responsible choices, including the base fabrics on which I print. I use organic cotton whenever possible, as well as environmentally friendly linen.

Do you take custom orders?

Yes! If you see a fabric you love, but you need it in a different colorway, on a different base fabric, or at a different scale, please drop me a line.

Are your fabrics suitable for apparel? Upholstery?

The organic cotton sateen is definitely appropriate for apparel—just be sure to follow washing instructions (and pre-wash before sewing) to keep the fabric looking lovely. The cotton-linen canvas is a home decor weight and is perfect for upholstery projects. That said, because of the nature of the printing process, we don't recommend it for heavy-use items like ottomans.

Can I sell goods I produce with Cottage Industrialist fabrics?

Absolutely. You may use any Cottage Industrialist fabric you purchase for commercially produced goods. Of course, I'd appreciate if you mentioned where you got such rockin' fabrics, but that's up to you! The only thing I ask is that you not reproduce the artwork from my fabrics in any other medium—all artwork is protected by copyright.
